Here are a few suggestions:

NC 500 Adventure

The North Coast 500 (NC500) is one of Scotland most popular tourist routes. It is approximately 513 miles and the route can be travelled clockwise or anticlockwise, around a mainly coastal route going north from Inverness. Rated by the Times newspaper as the fifth best driving route in the world, we recommend a minimum of five days to travel along the circular route, which starts and ends in Inverness.

The NC500 is a great way to see the North Highlands and to explore some of Scotland’s natural beauty. In one of our motorhomes you have the freedom to go where you want when you want; no time spent searching for a Hotel or Bed & Breakfast accommodation on the route, that has to be booked many months in advance.

When travelling around the NC 500 there are too many places to list that you should visit but we recommend that you stop off at John O’Groats; there you can jump on to a speedboat and take in the amazing wildlife and mainland coastline from the water.  When continuing along the top of the country, you will pass Ben Hope – the most northly Munro.  If you’re feeling fit, the climb is worth it; the views from the top out over Loch Hope and out to sea are spectacular.  Continuing west you will pass Smoo Cave a large sea cavern.  If you’re feeling adventurous, there are small boat tours offering the opportunity to study stalagmites and stalactites. At the NW corner of the route you will find Durness and Sandwood Bay with beautiful white sand beaches. Cape Wrath is close by and has a lovely lighthouse café – the west coast section of the NC500 is simply breath-taking and there are many more great places to take in on your adventure.

This interactive map and app highlight the key tourist attractions, and best places eat and stop and take in the views along the way
